About LEXI

When we last posted LEXI, it was an urgent plea for help. We were not sure what was going with her behavior, and she was returned after being adopted about 4 months ago. LEXI is now in foster, and has been evaluated by a few different trainers. We have learned that LEXI is NOT aggressive. She is just really afraid of strangers. So afraid, that she will bark and put on a big show...fluffing her feathers as if she is tough...but all she is hoping for is that the stranger does't hurt her. This revelation is huge. One of the trainers suggested that this may be caused by something traumatic done to her as a puppy...and whatever happened has left an imprint on her brain not to trust unknown people. LEXI is a great dog. She really is still just a puppy at about a year old, and weighs about 55 lbs. She is spayed and current on vaccines. She is such a gorgeous combination of breeds...depending on the angel, she looks Akita, Shepherd, Great Dane, American Staff. LEXI knows basic commands like sit and heel. She is potty trained, crate trained and non-destructive. She is dog friendly and bonds quickly to humans in her home. She loves car rides, running around in the yard and LOVES to play fetch. She will need a home with leadership and structure to help her stay on track. LEXI has gotten to be quite an amazing dog in her foster home. She will still bark at strangers but looks to her foster dad for reassurance, and has really come a long way. This beautiful girl really deserves her forever! Located in CT.
