About Josey

Josey is a neutered male smooth coated Border Collie born in 2018.He is up to date and current on all vaccinations and rabies vaccine. He is HW negative and on heartworm preventative. Fecal exam neg. for parasites. 4 way Snap test negative for all diseases tested. Josey 'Joseph' shows signs of abuse and neglect and low self esteem. He has yet to bond with a person and give and receive the trust needed to become a reliable companion animal. He is friendly with everyone he meets, young and old and displaces no outward signs of aggression. He shows no food, bowl or toy aggression nor separation anxiety. He has lived his life out of doors and his last home chained outside living in a cardboard box. He suffers from a Collapsed trachea due to life on a chain. He was purchased for the sole reason of being a guard dog on a farm to alert the 80 year old owners of anyone coming towards the house. He was relinquished into rescue due to not being able to fulfill that job description. He escaped from his bonds and ran away many times only to be brought back. He had been ID Microchipped so the finders always knew where to return him to. In this case the good and bad of microchipping. Josey is desperately in need of the correct home. He is crate trained and is now reliable with house training. He is not a chewer of furniture nor does he appear to be a counter surfer. He has found the comforts of indoor living and no longer wants to be outside much, he has become a house dog in very short order. He appears to have a fear of loud noises and even loud singing makes him shake in fear. Josey needs a stable environment with a strong pack leader who is dog savvy.
