About Kush

Adoption Fee: $75
Pit Bull / Boxer
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Kush is a loving and loyal pup of ~5yrs of age, who loves to play and snuggle. He came to our family 4 years ago having been abused and neglected as a puppy, and we were happy to give him a loving home, where he was able to form a close bond with our dog, received years of training, went on many adventures in the great outdoors, and got to play with other dogs on a daily basis at the dog park. Kush has an incredible and special personality and a big heart. He has the innocent sweetness of a puppy, and once he forms a bond with his owners, his love goes extremely deep. He loves to curl up on the couch and snuggle all night, and gets excited to play with his bone or with other doggies or people. He's a curious dog but also very obedient and well trained, and loves to know when he has pleased you. He is expressive and full of life, but also can be quiet and peaceful. We are seeking a new home for Kush after a tragic accident involving one of our cats, and because we are seeking to adopt a baby in the near future, we have been strongly advised by a dog behavior specialist that he cannot be in a home with a baby or young child. Though it breaks our hearts because he is an amazing dog with the biggest and sweetest heart, we need to find Kush a loving home without cats, small animals, or children. He also should be placed in a home without other dogs so that his training and rehabilitation can be most effective, though he is certainly able to socialize with other dogs, such as dog park visits. Due to his past history of abuse as a puppy, he has some attachment issues, and anxiety and fear from his past traumas that sometimes is exhibited in slight aggression to strangers when he feels afraid. With the right family who can work with a specialist, he can become a fully well adjusted pup. We are fully committed to finding the right family for Kush, as he is well worth the effort to rehabilitate - his love goes so deep and we want to find the right family who can provide him with plenty of exercise, discipline, love, calm and assertive energy, and outdoor adventures. We will work with you personally to help him transition, and we are willing pay for initial sessions with a local dog trainer in the Anchorage/Matsu area to work with you to ease his anxiety, fear, and past trauma, so that he can fully shine and bring light to your life in the way he brought so much beauty and light to ours.
