About Midna

Adoption Fee: $40
Pit Bull mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Midna is an incredible pitty. She is a snuggle monster who loves to cuddle in close while you binge watch something on Netflix. In her small yard, she loves to play tug with her rope and 'chase me' with her ball. Her favorite place is always 'under' - under the bed, under the table, under the chair. As you can see, she's a hard worker, and a brilliant coworker for the work-from-home foster mom who has her now. Her family included a mom, dad, and two young boys (7 years and 4 years). Dad was not happy with a dog this size who has so little respect for personal space. Midna also felt like it was her job to bark and guard the tiny yard at her first floor apartment in a busy complex. Then Midna started nipping at the 4 year old to herd him around the house, and the family knew it was time to find her a place that was a better fit. With her foster mom (a friend of the family), she's been an absolutely amazing dog. But....foster family has cats, which Midna views as fun toys that should be chased around the house. She has been absolutely respectful of the two adults and the 12-year old in the house though - no attempts to nip or push people around like she's done with the 4 year old. Foster family also has a pit mix that is a few years older than Midna - they play well together. Leash walking: Great as long as her halty lead is on. Needs work if switching to a collar. Suggest a harness with chest strap instead. Housetrained: Had mistakes at home with young boys. Has not had any mistakes with foster family. Crate: Trained to use it for sleep and some food, as long as it's in the bedroom with people. Whines if left in it alone during the day and she can see or hear other animals/people moving around. Noises/new stimuli: An incredibly steady animal, did not shy away from garbage trucks, fast cars, or anything else outside. House behavior: Likes to open doors, push over dog gates, stand up under a chair and knock it over, etc. Loves to headbutt your knees until you take the muzzle off. Activity: She goes on 2 short walks a day, one longer walk, and has play sessions in the yard. She could get by with a LITTLE less, but this has helped her get her wiggles out so she can start training more. She needs a house with kids over 10 and no cats. If she has another dog around, it can't be an older or sick dog - she wants someone to play with and could be a pest to a dog that doesn't play anymore. A yard, including a tiny one, is probably necessary since she needs it to get energy out.
