Meet Darling Darla! She is about 8 years old and weighs 18 pounds. When we rescued Darla the shelter said she was vision impaired. We took her to the eye doctor and she was diagnosed with sudden acquired retinal degeneration syndrome (SARDS). This is a disease in dogs causing sudden blindness. It can occur in any breed, but female dogs may be predisposed. There is nothing that can be done to restore her sight. However, Darla gets around fine once she learns her environment. She is a very sweet girl who would do best in a quiet home.
