About Sunny

Please complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Meet Sunny. This 18 month old, 50 pound Coonhound is looking for a new home. She has been very sweet, good girl in her home and was taken in about a year ago after being found as a stray from another county as a young pup. At that time, she was in pretty bad shape and was lucky to find a family to nurse her back to health and gain some weight. Sunny has done great in home and currently lives with a 3 and 7 year old child. With the exception of chewing on their toys instead of hers occasionally, she does quite well with children overall. Sunny is also house trained and is used to being in a crate when alone. She just doesn't prefer it. Ideally, Sunny would very much enjoy an owner who is home more often. She started a low cost anxiety medication a couple of months ago to see if it would help her adjust to the back to work schedule of COVID. The worst she has done in her crate is crack the bottom pan when alone. Although she does display some anxiety, it is minimal and manageable and only during those times when she is alone and crated. She doesn't seem to have any anxiety during thunderstorms or fireworks. Sunny would love to have a fenced in back yard and possibly an active dog buddy to run and play with. She is good with other dogs. Sunny does want to playfully chase cats who run, but its not intending to hurt them. Sunny is also decent on leash and polite in public. She didn't make a peep the entire time we met for pictures. She has a very sweet, friendly personality but does know some basic commands and naturally has some manners. She would make an excellent addition to a family wanting a nice, kid friendly dog or an owner who appreciates Coonhounds. Sunny is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $175.
