About Stormi

Stormi is very sweet, submissive, approximately 11 month old female tabby with swirls kitten/young cat. She was rescued at 8 weeks old from a Bojangles parking lot in Gastonia NC during a storm. It was discovered that she had an injured leg. She was taken to the vet where she was examined, treated for her injury, wormed, vaccinated, and tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV. At that time her test results were negative for both. She went to a foster home and the fosters decided to keep her. Unfortunately over time Stormi began being attacked by one of their other cats who is very dominant. So we took her back. We got her to our vet to get spayed and it was discovered that her gums were infected. Since this is unusual for such a young cat our vet did another combo test. This time she tested positive for FIV (but still negative for Feline Leukemia thank goodness). Her first test result must have been a false negative. She had a dental cleaning a couple of teeth pulled and her mouth is much much better. Our vet said that she will just need dental cleanings every 6 months until she is two years old and she should be good. Our vet also recommended brushing her teeth daily, which we have begun doing. Stormi will need to go to a home that is calm, and if there are other cats, they will need to be laid back, not dominant. She will need to be an indoor only cat. FIV positive cats can live as long as FIV negative cats as long as they stay indoors, receive vet care when needed and on an annual basis for their wellness exams and vaccinations. FIV is not contagious by sharing food, water, and litter boxes. It is mainly spread by cat bites during fights.
