** TO Be Euthanized 4/8/2021 in NYC ** FOSTER or ADOPTER needed BY NOON that day to SAVE affectionate PENNY's life! PLEASE, SHARE! 'Find a penny, pick it up, and all the day you'll have good luck...' Affectionate, mellow, playful but very shy of new people who come to her home, petite PENNY now finds herself surrounded by many strangers when her parent gave her up to the shelter for no time! It's not like Penny is shy with new people all the time, when out on walks she is friendly with new people. But her home is her castle, her safe space, and Penny wanted her home to be one of calm, no surprises, and a comfortable routine she could count on. She has so many sweet qualities, and she knows a lot of commands already. But she needed further training and some socialization with visitors to help her realize that visitors are fun (one way to do this is to give every visitor a bag of high value treats and have them drop them one by one so she sees that with new friends come good things!) She is wonderful out with other dogs, and she plays happily and respectfully with pups of every size and shape. House and crate trained, when she was on walks she didn't pull hard on the leash, making strolls in the park a joy. Penny is not a penny, she is a diamond in the rough who just needs a bit of polishing to make her shine. Won't you give this girl a chance? If you are an experienced foster or adopter in a home with no young children, please hurry and MESSAGE OUR PAGE or EMAIL US at [email protected] for assistance. A volunteer writes: We say that Penny reminds us of ET. And we mean that in the most loving way. Truth be told, I think she looks like an inverse ET. Her head is tiny compared to the rest of her body, and her frame is disproportionately big. But those face wrinkles and wide-set eyes are unmistakably alien-like and result in the most adorable extraterrestrial who's ever landed in Brooklyn! She will serenade you with delightful piggy snorts when she's playing with a ball or a toy and her play bows are out of this world. As we stop to watch her invent her own game, she noses the ball towards us, expecting us to roll it back to her. Of course, we oblige because how can you say 'no' to this charming little creature?! More snorts and play bows ensue and that's it, we are over the moon for Penny. A staff member writes: Penny was surrendered due to her owner feeling like they weren't able to give her enough time and care. They were concerned about trying to rehome as Penny has some challenging behaviors.
