About Alaska

Alaska is a special needs dog. She requires special food and medication which together cost about $400.00 a month, but with the combination she will stay healthy and maintain her high level of energy for her lifetime. According to our volunteers, this two and a half year old shepherd is a delightful, sweet lady who is very full of energy and is looking to learn. She walks well on leash, is great on a long car rides, and loves to hang out in the play yard, keeping an eye on everything going on in the neighborhood. She is a kind soul who greatly rewards us with love and snuggles daily. Alaska is picky about canine companions and cats are a definite no no. She will also need a fully fenced yard. Pet meet and greets are by appointment only, so if you'd like to meet Alaska, submit an application in advance by going to the shelter's Adopting a Pet page at https://www.co.clatsop.or.us/animalcontrol/page/adopting-pet. Scroll to the bottom of the page for the application. Be sure to date it next to the signature line (applications are reviewed in the order they are received) and put the name of the animal you are interested in at the top. You can then save the application to your computer and email it to [email protected]. A shelter staff member will review it and call you to set up an appointment. Due to Covid restrictions, only two people are allowed in the shelter at one time and each visitor is asked several health-related questions before being allowed in.
