About Tex

Adoption Fee: $100
Great Pyrenees / Boxer
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Due to my divorce, I need to rehome my one year old, 55lb, mixed breed pup, Tex (DOB 3/21/20). He is neutered and up to date on all vaccinations (he takes Simparica Trio monthly for heartworm/flea prevention). He was DNA tested at Banfield Vet, and is 25% Great Pyrenees, 12.5% boxer, 12.5% lab, 12.5% terrier, and the rest unknown. He has no special food requirements - I feed him HEB dry & wet food. We got him when he was 8 weeks old and he has been wonderful with my three kids (ages 4, 9, 13) and he is excellent with other dogs (and cats). He is housebroken and crate trained. He goes to doggy daycare 5 days a week and he is wonderful with the other dogs and all of the employees. He love to swim in lakes/ponds, but not swimming pools. He has a very submissive personality, which borderlines on insecure/anxious. Due to the stress of my divorce and all of my anxiety, Tex has become increasingly protective of me, and has started 'resource guarding' over the past few months. Basically, if I am walking him on a leash, he will growl and bark at any strange adult or child that comes up to us (he is very cute, so people always want to pet him). He does not display this behavior at the dog park though, when he is off the leash. He has never bitten anyone, but we are moving to a new neighborhood with a lot of children, and I am not able to always watch him and make sure he is introduced properly to strangers. I don't want him to have to be locked up when my children are home with their friends, and I won't be able to put him in doggy daycare anymore once i move. I have a lot of anxiety and he feeds off of my energy. If he had an owner that was relaxed and easy going, I think this problem would disappear. He would be happiest to go to a home that has another dog because he loves being social. His crate, dog house, vet records, etc. go with him. Please txt me if you are interested in meeting him at Meyer Dog Park (near Cypresswood & Stuebner Airline in Spring). In order to screen out people who can't afford the upkeep of a dog, or people who are looking for bait for dog fights, I am asking for a $100 donation for Rescue Me. I also will want to take a picture of the new owner's driver's license, and deliver Tex to his new home myself. He is a very loving dog, and I want him to have a happy & healthy life!
