****EXPERIENCED DOG OWNERS ONLY**** Tobias - 911 URGENT 2 yr old Neutered Male Shepherd/Husky Mix in need of immediate rescue!!!! The shelter has several pups in need of extra help; there for an extended time, much longer than most. Tobias is one of those dogs needing something extra. He's technically been there the longest (if you don't count the weekend he was adopted then returned stating he didn't like men. NOTE: He has been good with the male and the female shelter techs. He needs slow introduction and time to build trust which is why he needs an experienced dog owner, perhaps a shepherd owner who understands the breed). Some adopters expect the perfect pet when they bring one home from a shelter, but it's going to take some readjusting, time, space & patience. It doesn't always happen overnight, it may take some work & sacrifice but will be worth it. When Tobias first arrived, he was scared; he's a big boy with a deep bark which can be scary & intimidating, but it's all for show. He's all bark w/his tail between his legs. A big dog bark can be off-putting, but so is being in a strange place w/people you have no idea who they are. Tobias barked at me, so the next day I gave him a cheeseburger next day, another burger & by the 3rd day, I got a tail wag. Co-workers told me how much better he was doing with them & they didn't even have to give him burgers; it just took a little time for him to get to know us. We took him out to the yard - he was so excited, happy - almost instantly went belly up for tummy scratches. He's a good boy but a little more sensitive & guarded with his friendship. Once you are his friend, he will love you & trust you without limits, but you need to put in the time, it wont happen instantly. Tobias came in 1/28, Adopted 3/2, returned 3/6 stating he doesn't like men & didn't get along with their other dog. Tobias has had 2 temp tests at the shelter that he has passed, the last with a Pit Bull who would throw herself on the floor to slide up under his feet. The look of confusion on his face as she slid under him and he hopped up & looked at me like, 'what is she doing? Oh, I like this�'�| ' was definitely priceless. He has now been over 90 days.
