About Lovey Dovey

Hi, I'm Lovey Dovey! I have the most perfect name ever. Wanna know why? It's because there is nothing I like better than to snuggle up with the people that love me. I like to hug my people. Cuddling up makes me feel so good. I'm one of those great dogs that likes affection and is super fun too. I was wondering -- have you ever heard of the phrases 'Diamond in the Rough' and 'Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend'? Yes? Good! Because the volunteers here at Desert Haven that take care of me every day told me that these two phrases describe me perfectly. Then I was wondering what all of that meant so I asked my favorite volunteer who seems to know things to shed some light on it and this is what she said: 'Well, Lovey, those are figures of speech. You are a Diamond in the Rough because you have exceptional qualities and potential, but, because you are still an exuberant puppy you lack in refinement. One lucky family will get to know you, train you, and help polish you from this happy, jubilant puppy into the truly shiny, vibrant Diamond Dog you are meant to be.' So I thought that all sounded really swell! Since I am super excited to be someones Goodest Girl, I then asked about the other phrase. So my care-taker went on to tell me this: 'You sure ask good questions, Lovey Dovey. Being curious and interested and engaged are some of your great qualities. Since you're an older puppy now, it's good for you to realize a dog's life isn't JUST about playing with toys all day. The phrase Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend simply means that 'diamonds are forever'. Being adopted means that you'll enter into a lifelong friendship. And that one day soon you'll be a polished diamond in the heart of a great family.' Obviously, I just kept loving this whole conversation more and more. It's really neat to hear what the humans think about me and how I'm going to be discovered one day soon and get to meet my new family. I can't wait!!
