About Yogi

We are a sucker for the seniors and Yogi came into our rescue for very reason. Yogi was posted on Facebook free to a good home at 12 years of age! When we saw Yogi and read about him our hearts just broke. You see Yogi is a double merle Australian Sheppard who is blind in one eye and has limited vision in his other eye. His owners were moving into a smaller home and because they had other dog their was no room for Yogi. Our hearts just broke. How could anyone not take a senior blind dog?? When Yogi was surrendered to us we thought we might have a new home for him really quickly. We had someone reach out to us that was interested in another senior we have but due to their steps it was not a good fit so we were excited to tell them about Yogi especially since they love Australian Sheppard's. When Yogi came to us with in day's we noticed his heavy panting and limited eating we did notice some blood in his stool as well. We took him into our vet for an emergency visit as we figured his pancreas may be flaring up due his whole world being turned upside down! Yes, he was diagnosed with pancreatitis and we did a senior blood panel on him where his liver values were elevated and we tested for Cushing's Disease and yes Yogi does have Cushing's Disease. All of his medical issues caused our adopter to back out of the adoption as they have young children and want to protect their hearts as well. So we are looking for that SPECIAL SOMEONE! That needle in the haystack! That shinning star who is willing to overlook Yogi's age and medical issues and open up their home and hearts for this special senior who needs to be in a home where he is loved and most importantly wanted. He deserves a wonderful home to live out the rest of his days. We never can guarantee how long our pets will live to begin with anyway. We are feeding Yogi a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice with turmeric for his pancreas and we are looking into holistic remedies as well as modern medicine so that Yogi can live with both his pancreatitis and his Cushing's Disease in comfort. Yogi likes to sunbathe in the back yard. He likes to go on slow smaller walks. He is very good at finding his way around once he knows the floor plan. His foster Mom will gently guide him through the house and let him know when there are steps and Yogi will listen to her instructions. Yogi is just a beautiful dog inside and out. Please be his shining star!!
