The shelter indicates that he is not doing well in this environment and is exhibiting signs of fear, anxiety or stress. He is available to rescues and also savvy adopters who must give him time to decompress. Per the shelter: 'Behavior Notes: When I approached this dog's kennel he was at the kennel door barking in a defensive manner. I crouched down and opened the kennel door. The dog stopped barking and became curious and tail wagging, so I slowly put my hand inside and he came up and sniffed me then began to lick my hand. I then showed him my leash and he sat, allowed me to leash him and we exited the kennel. Non reactive walking to yard and sticks right by the handler. In the yard he explored for a few minutes then came up and checked in with me. He likes treats and takes them gently but will get excited and could be a little rough so be careful. He knows the Sit, Shake, & Down commands. Loves to be pet and rubbed on. He is a very sweet boy and has low to medium energy levels. While doing rounds, this dog is vocal in his kennel. Appears to be a response to the environment. This time he wasn't barking at the kennel but he was up front. I threw some treats in and went in. He came forward to be leashed. Doesn't pull too bad walking through the kennels. Walked on leash a little bit but was pulling to mark and sniff. Checked back in with handlers and loved to get treats. Allowed head scratches.
