About Serenity

Poodle
Age: Senior
Sex: Female

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO ON THIS DOG BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPLICATION. MANY OF OUR DOGS HAVE STRICT REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR ADOPTION. 1. A fenced yard is a must for Serenity 2. No young children. 15 year old female toy poodle, about 8 pounds. Meet Serenity! She was an owner surrender to us when the family could not keep her after her owner passed away. Serenity is looking for a quiet retirement home. Her favorite things are snoozing on a dog bed near a human, strolling in the yard, and eating her meals. This little girl is slow to warm up to new people, but once she does, Serenity follows the humans around the house. She is touch shy, so needs a home with no young children. Any adopter needs to be willing to let Serenity learn to trust them in her own time and not force affection or cuddling. Serenity will need to find exactly the right home for her retirement. This little girl is mostly blind and also hard of hearing. After a short time, Serenity navigates like a champ, but will need a home without surprise steps and a fenced yard without hazards she could wander into. Being on leash confuses her, so a fenced yard is a necessity. Serenity is great for the groomer and will need regular grooming. After Serenity's former owner passed away, her family took care of all her deferred veterinary care. This included the extraction of all her teeth and clearing up skin issues, both of these issues were due to her not seeing a vet or being groomed for quite a long time. As a result, Serenity is healthy and comfortable aside from a bit of arthritis which is common in older dogs. Adoption contract and fee applies. All adoptable dogs can be met at adoption events hosted every weekend. For a list of scheduled events go to: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/events . Smidget Rescue is not a shelter, and dogs cannot be seen at the Rescue location. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area and are brought to the events where they can be met by prospective adopters. Additional pictures of adoptable dogs can be seen at: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/photos_stream?tab=photos_albums. All adoptable dogs are spayed or neutered at 6 months of age or older, and always before being placed in their new homes. APPLICATIONS CAN BE OBTAINED BY EMAIL ONLY. Adoption process includes application, meet & greet, home visit and reference check. Email Jamie at [email protected] or click on the CONTACT link on this page. PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS BEFORE SENDING. We get a fair number of incorrect emails and Jamie is not able to contact potential adopters. Notice: We do not ship dogs out of state. If you live within a five-hour radius of Seattle, WA, (such as Portland, Vancouver B.C., etc.), we can arrange for a home visit. If your home seems like a great fit for the dog you would like to adopt, you must then drive to meet the dog at one of our weekend events or at the fosters home.
