About Duffy

Duffy is a 2 year old, 14.7 pound blue and tan Rat Terrier Chihuahua mix who was owner surrendered to us. Duffy is very timid until he gets to know you. He takes a long time to trust people, but as soon as he is comfortable in your home you will know it because he breaks out his happy dance! Duffy gets all excited and lifts one foot up and then the other and then stands up on his back legs and paws the air begging for pets or for you to pick him up! It's so cute! He also loves to sit on a lap and cuddle with someone he trusts. He will put his head on you and lean in for loving, but it does take him some time to feel comfortable enough to do that. He is a good boy who would be best in a quiet home, although he would like another dog for playing and companionship. It will also help him adjust easier to a new home. Duffy should not go to a home with kids. We think at some point in his life he was not treated well by a child and he does not react well to them. He has not been around cats since he has been in rescue and we don't think a home with cats would be a good fit for him. He prefers to sleep in a doggy bed at night. Duffy loves to run and play in the yard and does zoomies with the other dogs. We are absolutely requiring a fenced yard for him. Duffy has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, and microchipped with a lifetime registration. His neuter is scheduled at our vet and is covered by the rescue. He is heartworm positive and has been started on treatment and has had a 12 month ProHeart shot. The rescue pays for treatment and testing until he is heartworm negative.
