Adoption Fee: $75
Australian Cattle Dog / Greyhound
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Near DFW, Texas - willing to travel for the right home I have come to the incredibly difficult decision to re-home my girl for her own safety and the safety of my other dogs. I have reached out to numerous rescues in my area, and none can help me. Isla Bug (pronounced eye-la) is a healer/greyhound mix. She is around 2.5 years old, indoor, spayed, microchipped, current on vetting, including Heartguard and nexguard. She is house trained and crate trained. She has been through obedience classes and does well learning new tricks! She's smart and so loving. Chest scratches are her favorite. When she's happy, she vocalizes, and she has a VERY deep voice. She likes being active with her human, but she requires some time to adjust and warm up to new experiences. She is a gem of a companion, but she has some anxiety that comes out as aggression at my other dogs. I've removed all the triggers in my home and worked with a behavioral dog trainer for over a year. All her behaviors except the fighting with my other dogs are under control. She still has high anxiety around fireworks and gunshots, but she has some rescue anxiety meds that help. She wears pheromone calming collars and she's now on Trazodone daily (since Dec 1), but she may be able to come off that if there are no other dogs around and her anxiety lessens. She is on specialized allergy drops daily, but they only have to be purchased every 5 months. I am rehoming her because she deserves to live somewhere where her anxiety isn't elevated all the time. She deserves to live with people who can love her as much as I have. She's so great with people, and NEVER shown any aggression toward people. She's never lived with kids, so I'm not sure how she would respond. I love her dearly and I hope to stay in contact with her new adoptive home so I can watch her grow old and be happy the way she deserves. She comes with her crate and bed, toys, any unused medications she needs, food, and treats. This girl has a HUGE piece of my heart, and she will steal yours too if you give her the chance.
