Gray Domestic Short Hair Male 8 years old 12 lbs. Hello, I'm Gray. Psst. Psst! Down here under the bed. Sorry for hiding from you. I've been doing that lately. It's just that I've been through a lot of change recently and I like to tuck away in what I call my safe places when I'm in a new home. You could say I'm doing my own version of social distancing here at my foster's house. My first few weeks here, I did a lot of hiding out as I was just really unsure of my new surroundings. But now that I've settled in, I'm making a lot of progress in feeling more comfortable and relaxed. Nowadays, I enjoy gentle pets on the head and booty rubs from my foster mom and I'm really coming along in being more of a social cat overall. I really am a friendly fellow, but 2020 was a rough year. Am I right?! So, I'm not sure about cuddling just yet. But I know I will get there with love and patience! We will have to learn that about me together. I know you introverts out there can understand. I am experienced with travel and am perfectly willing to climb into my transportation crate. I will be best as a home without other cats due to my medical needs (see below) and I haven't met any dogs yet but I think I'd be ok with a dog who gave me plenty of space and understanding. And another bummer of a situation...I tested positive for FeLV (see...told you. 2020/2021 has not been my favorite year.) FeLV is a virus that affects a cat's immune system. It is not contagious to humans or dogs but it is very contagious to other cats so I need to be the only cat in my forever home. Cats with FeLV live very normal lives until the virus causes a cat to feel really sick really quickly. So while I likely won't have a lot of medical costs surrounding my diagnosis, FeLV doesn't have a long life expectancy (usually 2-3yrs on average) so I need a forever family who can just love me and understand I may not have a ton of years to offer as a companion. If you have compassion for a cat who has just been through a lot and needs that extra love and understanding, contact my friends at PawsCo at [email protected] or learn more about PawsCo's application process at https://pawsco.org/adopt/adoption-process. I promise I will be forever grateful!
