FOSTER FOCUS/Adopter This post is going out with a prayer that one special person will see Jazzy's post and say Yes to this sweet and adorable baby . Jazzy was a stray roaming the streets of NYC in August and brought to the NYC Animal Care Centers. She wasn't in good shape. She had pyoderma and some behavioral issues such as anxiety and fear. She was then listed for euthanasia due to overcrowding at the shelter, Pound Hounds was able to save his life due to a foster stepping up. JAZZY'S STATS: Approx 3 years old 47 lbs Crate-Trained: Does NOT like the crate but fine alone in the house. Good with dogs with proper introductions. Kids over 16, please UTD on vaccinations, spayed and microchipped. Good with Strangers: Needs to take the time to sniff and bark. Easy to get to know women but has a tougher time around strange/new men. On Leash: As she gets to know you, she will tug on the leash quite a bit. It ends up being her favorite toy to play with. But, as she has gotten used to the neighborhood, that behavior has lessened tremendously. Continuing with treats, training, having her on a harness, and sticking to a schedule will continue to lessen the behavior. Housetrained: Once Jazzy is on a set schedule, she does not go in the house. She has to trust that you will be taking her out. Before that trust is there, she gets a bit confused and may have a few accidents. Here is what his foster mom has to say: Jazzy needs a really energetic home that can keep up with her. Also a lot of patience!! Don't give up on this loving girl. When you are her person, and she trusts you, all she wants to do is cuddle and be with you. She also needs a strong leader who will be strict with her training. Remind her not to jump on people, etc. THINGS I KNOW ABOUT JAZZY: She sighs a lot, especially when she's trying to sleep and YOU'RE still awake. It is actually really funny, she will always let you know when you are bothering her. She has such a big personality. She will drink out of the toilet!! Make sure she has water when she needs it (she will pee a lot if you don't watch her water intake) but just keep the bathroom closed if you are worried about this. Her medication (flea, tick, heartworm) is due on the 3rd of every month! She is the type of dog that stares into your eyes, with love Her tail will still wag even when she is barking at someone. She is always trying to see if she trusts someone'|. She just wants to play with other dogs, gets really excited especially while on the leash Squirrels and rabbits are her things! She will really really try to chase after them, always keep an eye out. She was a stray, she's used to the rain and she will get into the garbage if you let her. It's what she is used to. She really enjoys ice cubes. You can randomly give them to her throughout the day and she will play with them. She does not let you cut her nails. This can be a huge thing for her because she can get stressed out when it comes to her paws. Cutting her nails is a no but we have gotten her more used to wiping her paws when she comes into the house. My time with Jazzy has been everything that I thought having a foster dog would be! In the beginning, she is earning your trust and figuring out who her people are. Once she is more and more comfortable, she really makes the house her own. Jazzy would sleep all day if you let her but then that means she will have the zoomies all night!!! Because of this, she needs a bit more of an energetic household that will help her explore and learn more about being a dog. Jazzy can be stubborn, because of this, she needs a leader who will continue her training and be consistent and PATIENT! This is a dog who deserves all of the love and cuddles on this planet but she also deserves someone who will put the work into her to train her and keep her in your focus. Right now, Jazzy is in a female-only household with no other pets. She could really thrive with another dog who can help get her energy out but she is also really great just with her people! She is a very versatile dog. If you want a dog with a big personality, she is definitely the one for you. Jazzy hasn't had a lot of time around men, she can get very protective and will bark but has never given us the impression that she would ever bite. She just doesn't trust them yet, this is where a lot of positive reinforcement and treats will come into play. She needs consistency. If you are at all interested and have questions, please feel free to reach out!! The best home for Jazzy would be out of the city, in a quiet setting. A quiet home with not too many people coming in and out. Please text Kat at 516 4573678 and I can send you videos that show her beautiful sparkling personality , you will love her !!! She's currently located in Long Island NY
