About Wilbur

Wilbur is an approx. 3-5 y/o 20# Rat terrier/Heeler/Corgi mix. He's a professional escape artist and will be a flight risk until he trusts you. Then he won't leave your side. Wilbur was dumped at a park in TX with about 10 other dogs. They were able to trap him because he just can't refuse food. He loves food and treats which are definitely the way to his heart and getting him to love and trust you. He'll need time to warm up to you, on his own terms. Wilbur likes other dogs but needs slow introductions with larger and overly friendly ones, esp males. But he'd probably do best in a home with another friendly dog to show him the ropes. He has not been cat tested and due to his trust issues, he'd do best in an experienced dog home without kids or visiting kids. Wilbur likes to go on walks and is good on the leash. He is crate trained but can escape a crate with only one latch and does not enjoy being left in the crate for more than a couple hours so needs humans who are home often. Wilbur is potty trained and will REQUIRE a VERY secure fenced in yard with a 6 ft privacy fence. Even then, he cannot have access to the outside when his humans are not home. Wilbur doesn't do great on car rides but his foster is working on that. Wilbur is a special guy and will be a very loyal companion if treated with love and kindness. He's also very athletic so wouldn't mind dabbling in human and/or dog sports as long as the venue is secure.
