About CHIPPY

Adoption Fee: $400.00
Border Collie / Shetland Sheepdog
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

*** EXPERIENCED OWNERS ONLY, PLEASE *** 'CHIPPY' is an adorable, 2-3 yr old, 45 lb. Border Collie mix male we rescued from a high kill pound. Chippy had been neglected by his owners prior to being dropped off at the pound, and he was incredibly shy, scared, untrusting of people and 'reactive' when approached. We rescued him and have worked alot with him to turn around his trust issues and give him a sense of security, and now he is a very happy, incredibly loving and affectionate boy. Now Chippy will 'scamper' with delight; wagging his tail, trying to engage in play, and climbs up into your lap for love and affection. Chip is highly praise driven rather than 'treat driven', and loves to be told he is a 'good boy'. Now he walks terrifically on a leash and knows basic commands. Because of his former 'trust' issues, we recommend a confident, patient, gentle, kind and experienced owner, preferably a woman, as that is what Chippy has really bonded with. Chip thrives with consistency and routine; it really bolsters his confidence and happiness. Chip would also benefit from a kind, gentle, submissive and light playing canine companion (his best buddy in the rescue is 'Hugh/Hugo'). Chip has not been around alot of men, nor children or cats, so we cannot say how he would react. Eventually interaction with older children he would thrive. CHIPPY is neutered, fully vaccinated, de-wormed, on monthly heart-worm preventative, crate-trained and house-trained. This rescue does not do it's own 'shots' ... all medical care is done by a licensed, certified Veterinarian or done under their direct supervision (ex., monthly heartworm treatments &/or deworming). All of our rescued dogs have been on a nutritional regime which includes high quality food and supplements (ex., probiotics; vitamins, etc). This is done to bolster their immune systems and overall health; the result benefits their adoptive family with a pooch who has a lustrous coat, bright shiny eyes, and happy and healthy disposition.
