About Moose

Adoption Fee: $100
Catahoula / Pit Bull
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Moose seems to be about 1 year old, we found him wandering the streets (saw him for several weeks, then finally saw he was trying to sleep in a pile of leaves in the cold), so we thought we'd help him. He is incredibly sweet, has a desire to please, but is confused sometimes about what that actually means. He responds better to verbal commands than being physically moved. If he gets annoyed at you 'pushing him' he'll halfway tell you with an open mouth, but no actual biting. He needs a fenced yard, or lots of walks. A gentle, but firm training schedule. He is housebroken, with a few accidents when he's waited too long or is nervous, but its just a little bit and very much rare. We are working on sit, stay and laydown, he's starting to get it. He's even learned 'out of the kitchen' and 'wait' when it's food time. He'll wait even for my 3yo to feed him. I think it would be best if he had a home with older kids that understand to not 'push' him. He's been great with our kid, but I can see him getting irritated. He gets along great with all the dogs he's met while with us! Doesn't seem to have any 'alpha' tendencies and lets my huge baby of a german shepard 'be in charge' lol. Moose is not aggressive towards the cat, but is VERY interested in her and wants to play far more than she does. So if your cat is fine telling the dog who's boss, everyone will be great. He LOVES people and wants to cuddle all the time, if you're sitting, he wants to sit with you. I can't express enough how SWEET he is. We are on a very busy street without a fence and I'm worried he'll try and greet EVERYONE ON THE STREET and get hit. We just had him neutered and micro-chipped with the intention of keeping him in our family, but our home/lives are not a good and fair match to his needs and energy. I even think he'd make a good running partner. He's also happy to go in a crate for sleep. He does need the right things to chew. Right now that is beef bones, they handle his crazy chewing and keep him interested. Moose is incredibly handsome and has the waggiest tail and some kind of barely there hound sound when he's playing. He does not bark a lot. He gets a little anxious when we leave, but a bone and or treat in the crate, he settles pretty quickly. We will be incredibly thorough with matching this sweet doggo soul with his forever home.
