This post is going out with a HAIL MARY that the right experienced angel sees this and gives PJ a chance !! She isn't getting any compassion at the shelter and thrown right on death row!! She is beyond scared and showing fear base behaviors !! She just needs a place where she feels safe , she smells death all around her , I would act out too !! UPDATE : WE HAVE AN EXTENSION FOR PJ UNTIL TOMORROW, 3/10 - FOSTER OR ADOPTER DESPERATELY NEEDED!! Precious P.J., to be killed 3/10 at the NYC ACC, Brooklyn, NY shelter Fostering is free and is truly rewarding. The rescue group that assists in saving PJ for a foster parent, will take responsibility for training and the cost of any medical care that PJ might need. A foster parent provides love, guidance, food & some yummy snacks. Free transportation provided. P.J. ID# 111562 - 2 Yrs old, 57 lb female - Afraid & out of sorts at the shelter - Single pet home - Foster or Adopter desperately needed PET PROFILE: PJ is an approx. 2 year old mixed breed female dog that was found as a stray. Currently, PJ is fearful and out of sorts at the noisy, scary shelter. Wouldn't you be? PJ can be taken for walks by handlers and volunteers but she can begin to feel overwhelmed and will need to be returned to her kennel. As a stray, we have no history on PJ's behavior in a home environment. She requires a very slow approach and will require socialization and further training in a home setting. She will display clear warning signs when she is uncomfortable (growling, choosing to retreat) and she should not be forced into new situations she is not yet comfortable with. We are recommending an adult-only, single-pet foster home prepared to work on PJ's defensive behavior using positive reinforcement, reward-based training. Shelter notes 2/26: PJ is not acclimating well to the shelter environment, and is starting to deteriorate emotionally. She is becoming difficult to remove from her kennel, and once out, she will, sometimes, begin to growl at handlers and lunge at objects. If you have no other pets and no children under and have experience please step forward for PJ and save her life ! So many left in garbage bags last week , please not PJ too ! Please text Kat 516 4573678 , I don't care what time it is just text me , PJ doesn't have much time left ! Here is a video text me and I will send you others please cut and paste into your browser https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4WJ2aJjupo 'It's strange how many ways there are to miss someone. You miss the things they did and who they were, but you also miss who you were to them. The way everything you did was beautiful or important. How much you mattered.' 'ۥ Robin Roe 'I play with my ball. It's my only comfort and I try not to lose it or let it go. When I have my ball and the sun on my back, and the volunteers cheering me on, I can almost forget that I am about to die. I can forget the pain of having been abandoned in the streets, the terror, the feeling that I was worth nothing to anyone and no one cared where I was. Why didn't they come for me? I guess it doesn't matter now. What matters is in this moment, with my ball, I am happy. And that's all I can hope for. To be happy this once before I die.' PJ probably spent her entire life between 4 walls, possibly born there, but obviously unprepared to be on her own. Her beautiful face looks so sad and confused and full of hurt. Someone she loved and trusted abandoned her, after she opened her whole heart to them. She goes on walks with the volunteers, she hunkers down low, and if someone speaks softly to her and lets her come to them on her own, she will take treats so gently that it's like the kiss of a butterfly wing. PJ is going to need time. She needs understanding, patience, an experienced foster or adopter who will give her the quiet, calm, structured home where she can decompress and warm at her own pace to a new family and a new life. A place to blossom, a place where she can flourish. Are you that person?
