He is a big hunk of a pit mix at 107lbs and an absolute joy to have around the house. At 8 years old he's an expert lounger, rope-tugging master, squeaky toy prancer, car-ride enthusiast and all around happy guy! Ferdie loves toys, especially ropes and squeaky toys. Tug-o-war is his favorite, and will bring a rope over and lay it on your lap when he's ready to play. He doesn't last very long and will go lay down with his rope, or roll around on the floor with it in his mouth�'�|earning the nickname Land Shark. Ferdinand will slowly lumber over to the garage door when it's time for a ride. He will sit like a good boy in the seat and watch the world go by as the wind blows on his face�'�|eyes closed and nose in the air! He enjoys his daily walks and will chill on the rug by the front door - letting us know it's time to go! He has worked his way up to almost 3 miles before he gets tired and is ready to head home. He does pull when he gets excited about a smell or another dog, but otherwise he's pretty easy on leash. He's very strong, so he will need someone who can handle the pull and work on his leash skills. Ferdinand LOVES people of all ages, but a little picky about his dog friends�'�|we've been told he prefers mellower female dogs. A dog intro is a must to make sure he's welcomed into a new home by all who live there. We are unsure about cats but our guess is he would not do well with a cat in his home. As we all know, allergies are no fun. Ferdie came to us as a medical case, suffering from untreated skin allergies, which resulted in hair loss and infections. We've been treating him for 2 months and he looks and feels brand new! He has food allergies, but also environmental. He currently takes a shot for his allergies every 2 months and it really seems to help. He will need to continue a grain-free diet and frequent baths as well to help with the skin flare-ups. Ferdinand also has some arthritis in his back end, but it hasn't been too much of a problem for him. This fantastic boy is up to date with his vaccines, neutered and house-trained.
