GOMEZ. Animal ID: A767948 We were alerted to this beautiful boy 2 months ago on the Camarillo Missing Pets Facebook page. He was seen running the streets terrified. Unfortunately sightings were few and far between. We couldn't establish any kind of pattern because there were not many sightings. Our team went out numerous times for him and he'd always seem to just vanish. At one point, there was a deceased German shepherd in the vicinity and we had thought it could have been him. We just hoped and hoped for a new sighting. It was quiet and we heard nothing for almost 3 weeks. Finally someone posted on Nextdoor about seeing him! A community member, Laura offered to hang some signs in the area to alert people to call us when they saw him. Well that certainly worked!!! The next morning we got a call, someone had seen him sleeping. Our team went out to set a trap. Once we got there, he was curled up, sleeping in the same spot. We started to set the trap and he got up and trotted away. We watched on camera, anxiously waiting for him to return. 10 hours later, he did and walked right in, completely unphased by the trap closing. Perhaps relieved that he didn't have to scour for food, sleep in piles of leaves, or dodge cars anymore. Our team got him safely to Ventura County Animal Services where of course he was checked for a microchip, given a nice warm bed and some food. He did not have a microchip so he was held for the 4 day stray hold and is NOW available for adoption! He is a big boy! Currently he is about 20- 30 pounds underweight.
