About Hunter

Australian Shepherd mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Hunter is a 2-year old, 60-pound male Border Collie mix located in Framingham, MA. He's a very personable and enthusiastic dog who enjoys life. He is a sensitive and expressive dog with an active outdoorsy lifestyle. And his smile? Award winning! As of late May Hunter will complete several weeks of boarding and training. Hunter now needs someone to use the tools and techniques that work for him. After a life of change and inconsistency, he deserves nothing less than a devoted person who will ensure his continued success. As his adopter, you will be able to learn first-hand from the trainer responsible for Hunter's transformation. In the past, Hunter was given conflicting rules and struggled with resource guarding. This resulted in three biting incidents. All could have been avoided, but with a bite history, even a great dog like Hunter has adoption challenges. To overcome this obstacle, he attended weeks of specialized training where his issues were addressed. Now is the time for him to be adopted! Hunter was a product of human failure. But no more. With training, direction, and appropriate activity, which are especially critical for working dogs, he is the collie he was destined to be. So that's where a superhero adopter comes in. He responds to calm and confident handlers as opposed to bully types who have proven to break his beautiful spirit. This playful dog would enjoy a fellow active sibling, and he especially likes females. He has very little experience with cats, but again, someone with experience who has a cat is not a deal breaker. Hunter is great with people, but needs slow introductions to new people. He prefers a quieter home and small family. He absolutely loves a daily routine throughout the day! He will need this when adopted. Bite Background: Two incidents, both related to resource guarding, occurred when someone tried to grab something out of his mouth without trading up. Then one day while in foster, he was part of a carload of people which overwhelmed him and ended in someone getting bitten. The B & T addressed his previous challenges, but an experienced dog handler is needed for continued management. After all his hard work, his next home must be FOREVER. Do not delay in applying! No first time adopters please. https://tiny.cc/ARK-Application (If Hunter is on RescueMe, he is still available. We update daily.) #ARKforHunter #JustSaveThem
