About Frankie

Siberian Husky / German Shepherd
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Meet Frankie! The guy was down to his last day at the county shelter when we pulled him. His issues all seem to stem from being EXTREMELY high energy - he wants to run and play and chase the ball and then run and play some more. He does know how to sit but he really has no inclination to do so unless he sees a benefit to him (food, treats, toys) - and we would say this is a pretty accurate indication of most of the level of training he's received to this point'| not enough! He loves his people once he gets comfortable, but will totally bark at a new person when they walk in the house and show that he is not comfortable. He has a really loud bark too! With a slow intro, treats, maybe throwing a ball for him in a comfy backyard setting, he warms up pretty quick. He LOVES the squeaky ball and chasing it and will drop it to throw for him! Frankie made his way to the e-list because he bit a child ~10yrs old - our notes said they he bit during play (which I can 100% see happening out of excitement as he can get VERY worked up) but we don't have any details besides this. He is not a mean or vicious dog at all but he very clearly lacks training and will need someone to work with him. He loves food and treats and would be very treat-motivated with training. With a lot of consistent, frequent exercise and training he has the potential to be an amazing companion! He LOVES other dogs - if the other dog is timid he may come off as a little overbearing because he gets SO excited to play. He loves the slightly more dominant male in his foster home and tries to engage the older female (who are not interested!) in play, though doesn't hound them when they deny him. And bonus'| he's good with cats! He is with a kitty in his foster home and about half the time he lets the cat wander by just watching him while laying down, the other half he will get up and follow the kitty and sniff him, but he hasn't actually ran and chased the cat, or shown any aggression whatsoever.
