PACUN -ID# A1966757 If you've been searching for a handsome, affectionate, mature yet playful companion, pack it in for PACUN (#A1966757)! Who knows where the name came from, but PACUN came from the streets to the East Valley Animal Shelter, Van Nuys, CA, on February 17. It's quite possible that PACUN jumped over a fence to escape, because I witnessed him nearly going over a wall in one of the small yards at the shelter (thank goodness I kept the leash on him and could pull him down). PACUN was so excited when he saw I was at his kennel to take him for a walk. At 6-years-old, he is quite strong and I was pulled to the yard, but he didn't show interest in the other dogs that barked at him as we passed by. He is enticed by treats, which he takes very gently, and he knows a couple of basic commands. Snuggling seems to come naturally to him. Here are a few staff and volunteer notes that were logged after interactions with PACUN: 'MAILBOX (Sun, Feb 28, 2021 5:15 PM) BEHAVIORAL Per Volunteer Animals: PACUN (#A1966757) Pacun came out of his cubby to see me at the kennel door then went back in to cubby to continue to chew on his Kong. I called him over and he was easy to leash, he pulled on leash to the yard. Once in the yard he wandered the perimeter, seemingly looking for something or someone. When other volunteers would walk by he would go to the fence and greet them with a sweet wiggly body. He would come back and check in with me and enjoy affection, and rolling on his back for more love. He was easy to return to his kennel. MAILBOX (Sat, Feb 27, 2021 7:29 AM) ENGAGEMENT TRAINING Per Volunteer Date of Interaction: 2/26/2021 Animals: PACUN (#A1966757) Pacun was calm and sitting by the door I looped him easily. He pulled hard to the yard and was mostly sniffing around. He would not take any treats he did sit for me after trying for a bit. He did enjoy affection and would solicit affection when I would sit. He walked better in the back and he really enjoyed it. I put him back with no problem.
