About Boots

Boots is a pure bred border terrier aged approximately 2.5 years. He was the runt of the litter and born with a small defect (missing a right paw). He however can run and walk just fine, but may need assistance getting up on furniture/stairs and tends to need to take rest breaks on long walks greater than 1 mile. His energy level is moderately high. He loves to play with toys and spend days outside in the sunshine. He's also very affectionate with his owners. My wife and I love boots very much, however we welcomed our first baby into the world about 15 months ago, and our son is now starting to walk around the house. Unfortunately Boots tends to be aggressively playful with him and there have been a few minor bits/scratches whenever they interact. Boots tends to be this way when interacting with other dogs as well as children, by being playfully aggressive with light bites/scratches. As the runt he still acts like a puppy sometimes. We are sad about the prospect of letting Boots go, and are in no rush due to all of his charming qualities. But unfortunately my wife and I are unable to leave him unsupervised with our son and have come to terms that there may be a more ideal situation for him. The perfect home for Boots would be for someone who has some experience with Border Terriers and is able to give him the care and attention he needs. They would ideally have no other pets unless these pets are patient/tolerant to playful 'puppy-like' behavior. It goes without saying that having small children is not ideal, however I think Boots would be fine with kids who are a little older. Ideally the owners would have access to a yard or area where he can spend a few hours per day being outside. Additionally it would be ideal for them to not require him going up stairs frequently or else the owner may find themselves having to carry him quite frequently.
