About Moose

Moose is only 1.5 years old. Moose is a lovable dog who needs help to relax on protecting his bones. He came to us as a rescue and we have worked with him a lot He can fetch, sit, lay down, and comes when called. He loves playing in the water if your on a hike! Moose is high energy and needs running time everyday and he will calm down to relax. Moose is great with our cat, but sometimes gets over excited and doesn't know when to quit playing. He has played with dogs and is very friendly. Fully vaccinated and neutered. We have had Moose 6 months, he came to us as a rescue. Someone we know had a nehibor who was treating him poorly. Background story: what we know: he was never allowed inside, he was chained to a dog house and kept outside all the time. He was given 1 cup a food a day. He would lay outside near the peoples dining room outside just to be closer to people. He came with no vaccines and was intact and not neutered. (He is now fully vaccinated and neutered) He was skinny and his front knees touched. (He is now very healthy and strong, he put on a healthy amount of weight) He was very anxious and did this snapping thing with his teeth simply out of anxiety (he does not do the teeth snapping anymore) he was not house trained (he is now house trained). They were planning on leaving him outside all winter so we took him in. He has potential for the right person, but we cannot help him any further at this point. Moose is a very sweet lovable dog who needs behavior modification with resource protecting. He is around children and does well with them, but cannot be trusted with them due to 3 different incidents of biting adults due to him protecting a treat/bone (just breaking the skin)) he is not safe to be with children which is why we need to rehome him. We simply walked by him when he had a treat and he growled, lunged and bit. He has been perfectly fine with his daily dog food, but for some reason bones and treats he is protective of. Moose needs a home that fully understands dogs and can work with him. He is very smart, when trained listens very attentively. I believe he could be a great goose hunting dog as he's fast, great memory, strong sense of smell and loves to fetch things without chewing on them. He's a very social loving dog with any person that comes around. We would really like to find him the right home who understands dogs and can help him with his resource guarding.
