About Joyce

Joyce is an 18 month old, 21 pound sweetheart. We aren't sure what breeds make up her DNA but we know she is adorable. Joyce was completely shut down and terrified when she came into our rescue with a mama dog and 8 puppies from a Missouri shelter. The shelter thought Joyce was the mama to some of the puppies. She is not, but she was happy to help take care of the pups. At first when we reached for Joyce she would flatten to the ground. It was clear humans had not been kind to her. She quickly discovered she loves people and loves to be held and cuddled. She will launch herself into a lap as soon as you sit down. Joyce comes to greet new people in her home and wants attention. She still flattens herself to the ground when we go to pick her up but is getting better. Joyce is just learning to walk on a leash and to sit for treat. Because she was so scared Joyce went out on a leash in her fenced yard for the first week. Now she goes out and explores her yard off leash and comes running back to her people. Joyce has learned how to play from her foster sister. Normal dogs teach shy, fearful dogs how to be a dog. Joyce does not seem to do well with new females and is snarky with them. She would do best with a male dog or as an only dog. She would enjoy a home where her people were around much of them time. We would like Joyce to have a physically fenced yard to she can safely run and play. Joyce is house trained, kennel trained, spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and heartworm tested. Joyce did test positive for Ehrlichia, a tick-borne disease and was treated with Doxycycline.
