About Corrie

Adoption Fee: $150
Catahoula / Australian Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

We will be moving again. This time we cannot take our dog with us. Please help us find a good home for her. She is a sweet but a little complicated dog. Corrie is a 3 year old female Catahoula/Australian Shepherd Mix. She is up-to-date on her shots, microchipped, and is spade. She has a few months of flea, tic, and heart worm medicine. She has a kennel, a 'place', and lots of other goodies. She is very smart and has a great nose. She needs exercise, but most importantly her brain worked. While taking her on walks, she hunts as we have a lot of deer where we live. She once treed two porcupines! She needs a place with a big yard or ranch. She is used to being indoors, but loves being outside with her people. She likes to hike and playing in the water. However, she is a very anxious dog. She tries to process everything she's experiencing at once. We use Trazodone, oils, and other sprays to calm her. New people, loud noises, new places trigger her anxiety. She can adopt new people into her circle, but it takes work and patience. When meeting her the focus should not be on her or making eye contact with her. Once she has adopted a person, she is very sweet toward them! She acts like she will a attack, but she usually just barks and avoids. I'm not sure she would do well in a home with young children as she has never really been them. She has nipped, but has never chomped down with her bite. She has had some training. She knows several commands-sit, lay, place, stay, touch, shake, high 5. She loves her 'belly rubs!' She loves her treats and peanut butter as well. I don't believe her to have food aggression. We have never successfully played fetch with her. She loves frisbees and tends to bring them back to the same spot as if she is herding them. She likes to chew on elk antlers. I believe her to be very trainable with. Just know that her anxiety will be the biggest thing the new owners will need to work on.
