About Midge

Adoption Fee: $225
Lab / Pit Bull
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Midge is 6 years old, current on vaccines, spayed, and approximately 38 lbs. Midge is very sweet and affectionate. She is smart, a fast learner and easily trainable. Seems to be a lab mix. She's housetrained and walks on a leash quite well, pulling only when she sees something interesting, but goes back in line quickly. She takes treats gently and waits for her turn. She gives warning if someone approaches the house, and sometimes if she simply sees, or imagines, movement outside. She loves softies, although they don't survive her ministrations. She also likes to play tug of war, and brings me a softie, happy to see me, as soon as I enter the house. Although she's very energetic and playful, she can be quiet for hours if she has to. She likes other dogs and has started wanting to play with mine, none of whom will oblige. She loves going to the dog park and run and play with other dogs. If she has not been exercised enough or another dog barks in the heat of the chase she gets very excited. Then I pull her aside and give her a chance to cool down. She needs to be trained in some areas. She is an escape artist and will not miss any opportunity to run out. Doesn't necessarily go too far, is very friendly and goes up to people, and neighbors have called me to return her, but she doesn't listen and does not respond to my calling if she's loose. Here, it's the road that's dangerous. I have opted for leashing her when I have to open the door to let someone in, because indoor baby gates or similar types of barrier do not stop her and she clears them very easily. She's not trained to go in the car, is all over the place, so she needs to be leashed, with a metal leash because she chews on and breaks any other chewable and breakable kind. She doesn't do it when she is walked on a leash.
