TO BE KILLED 03/02/2021 KUZCO WILL STEAL YOUR HEART IF YOU LET HIM. Friendly and timid, Kuzco is a sensitive soul. Found tied to a tree, in freezing cold weather. The finder kept Kuzco for a few weeks. Once they could no longer keep him, Kuzco ended up in the shelter. The shelter is a scarey place for any dog and most especially for the shy and sensitive. Kuzco knows commands and is willing to please. He is mostly house trained. He's the type of pup they wants to follow his person around, wanting to stay close to their side. He loves to play with toys of all sorts. His very favorite is to play tug. In the shelter he loves to on the volunteers laps in order to receive cuddles, pets and scratches. For a pup like Kuzco who needs people, affection and love, the shelter is a very tough place to be. He needs out of the shelter before he deteriorates. Kuzco needs a patient home where he can thrive and feel safe. Bring him home and let him love you. KUZCO (fka HAVOC) 109794 BROOKLYN ACC Estimated to be 1 year old, 72 Lbs NEUTERED MALE, MEDIUM MIXED BREED STRAY FROM NY 11432 MEDICAL BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: BEHAVIOR RATING: NH ONLY INTAKE DATE 01/02/2021 VOLUNTEER NOTES Amongst us volunteers, certain dogs get the nickname as my 'weird baby' and Kuzco is my latest. To be clear, there's nothing really weird about the dogs that get this moniker, it usually just refers to the dogs that may be shy at first, or harder to really get to know. Sometimes they're shut down or just super stressed out. But, these dogs often gradually become my favorite before I really even realize they've wiggled their way into my heart. In the beginning, Kuzco was sort of wide-eyed, anxious and a little rambunctious. After being found tied to a tree, he spent a few weeks in a home, and then was surrendered to us because the person couldn't keep him long term. So, it's no surprise that he's had a harder time adjusting to life in the care center. But as the weeks have passed, I have found Kuzco to be quite an affectionate, playful little dude. He loves to play fetch, will drop the ball on command, and though sometimes gets distracted by the goings on of the outdoors, he has a lighthearted side of him that's so endearing to watch. He will prop himself in my lap and get scratches, and he likes to be talked to and told he's a baby. His finder says that he is the 'type of dog that follows you around and seeks attention.' She goes on to say that he's mostly housebroken, likes to play tug and knows sit, stay and wait. Being 'my weird baby' is really a badge of honor because it means that Kuzco has managed to make his way onto my coveted favorites list. I'm quite sure if you met him, you'd feel the same. Because of Kuzco's initial fearfulness, and due to reported food guarding in his temporary home, he is best set up to succeed through a New Hope Partner and an experienced foster. Kuzco is 1 year old and 64 pounds. PET PROFILE Kuzco was brought in by a client who had taken him like a foster after a friend had found him tied to a tree. The friend was supposed to take over, but never came for him. Kuzco is apparently healthy. Kuzco has allowed minimal handling and is fearful and anxious. He is reactive on leash and the finder reported that he resource guards. The client had spent some time with him in the home and reported that he is friendly, but timid. They reported that he knows a few cues (sit, stay, wait). He liked to play tug with the foster and enjoyed brisk walks. Kuzco is a 1 yr. old large breed dog that was found as a stray.
