He's a young dog who likely spent the beginning of his life with an owner who didnt know too much about what a dog needs to be awesome, social and well mannered so now KP finds himself all alone at a high kill shelter. We are hoping for the best for him. All of these abandoned fur-babies deserve a second chance in a home thats a great match for them. Early in his stay he was able to be taken for walks and was aloof at times, but he focused most of his energy on mounting people when he is brought out and escalated to growling when being removed from the person he is mounting. Overtime, he has become difficult to remove from his kennel due to his leash biting behavior. During his assessment, King Presto gave a clear warning (growling) when the assessor attempted to adjust his collar. When he is with known handlers, he will warm up and display some social behavior but remains tense with quick movements. King Presto has deteriorated and has been observed to lick the kennel bars. He came in as a stray so we have no information on his behavior in his previous home. It is recommended King Presto be placed in an experienced adult-only foster home comfortable safely managing a high arousal dog. He will need to adjust to his new home and family slowly, in his own time, and he will need guidance on learning impulse control and self-soothing.
