About Gus

Gus is a typical Bull Terrier- affectionate, loving, loyal, playful, needs energy release daily. Does best with males but also good with females. He is smart and well trained, does well left out and good communicator. We recently had newborn (unexpected) and had job switch (unexpected) causing me to travel a lot. He needs a good home with stability as this is where Bull Terriers thrive. They get anxiety when things change too much and look for things to settle into a routine. Unfortunately that won't be the case for us for a few years. He's been good with my two older kids 6 & 8 but would probably do best without kids as he is a big, strong dog. We teach our kids to be very respectful of his space, etc. and they are so it works, but honestly this breed overall can be triggered unexpectedly to chase so it's just something you have to watch. Experienced dog owners with firm handle on positive reinforcement and hierarchy best owner for this breed. Gus is the greatest dog I've ever owned and the most loyal dog an owner could ask for. This is tough but it's he goes or we go and I love my wife and kids more than the dog though in this moment it feels debatable. Side note: if you ARE a single dude without plans for family expansion the next 8 years and you're looking for the ultimate bro dog, this is the dog for you. He's loving, loyal, strong as an ox, active, and attracts more attention than a foghorn in church. I can't take him anywhere without him getting showered with compliments and let's just say he's a bit of a chick magnet, but again, favors men as primary caregiver.
