About Cuba

Cuba is a dog that needs a great deal of love, patience and dedication. Her introduction to humankind and our world was traumatic. Because of this, she requires a very specific kind of care. For the most part, she has spent her life taking care of herself; all of a sudden, here we are whisking her away and passing her from place-to-place with no idea where she is going next. You can imagine how overwhelming that can be. We truly believe that all Cuba wants is a little say in what goes on in her life, consistency, safety and love. She is the sweetest, kindest animal we have ever had the pleasure of encountering. She's never growled at us, she's never snapped-we've, honestly, never even heard her bark. Cuba needs a nice, quiet environment. She needs to be in a home that has an enclosed yard with free reign that she can turn into her own world. Other animals are fine; she respects cats very well, but it takes them a bit to warm up to her. She seems to do best with other dogs (she does seems to be okay with the dog park every now and then and car rides are tolerable, at best), so another (gentle) dog in the home would be preferable-maybe having someone there to show her the ropes would be beneficial for her! We do not feel like a home with young children would be a good environment for Cuba. She doesn't enjoy being in crowded places, but she seems to love going on nice decompression walks in quiet areas.
