My name is Betty and I'm a dogaholic. I was born, bred, and lived in the mountains of West Virginia. I have lived my entire life as a bear hunting dog, chained to a box 24/7 except when we would go on hunts. I'm just a country girl who has now moved to the city. You would never know by my demeanor that I have never really known love. I am the happiest, sweetest, most well mannered girl you will ever meet. From the moment I stepped into a house, for the first time, I have been perfect for my foster mom. She tells me over and over again how much she loves me and can't believe what a truly wonderful dog I am. For the first time in my life, I get to lay on a couch, take long walks with her, sleep in a bed, run free in a yard, and the best of all play with other dogs - I am truly a dogaholic. City life and being an inside dog certainly agrees with me - not to mention the treats my mom gives me are also wonderful. My foster mom tells me that I have so many good qualities that it's hard to list them all. She also tells me that I will never have to worry about being chained again. So I am looking for a home with a fenced in yard so that I can run free and not have to worry about that ever again. I am super smart, very sensitive, learn quickly, am perfect in the house, and truly I am the happiest when I get to play with other dogs. I am almost 7 years old, but i have the energy more like a two year old. My dream home would not only have a fenced in yard, but would also have another dog that would like to play. I have missed out on seven years of playing and would like to make up for all of that missed time. If you don't have another dog, that's not a dealbreaker, but I would love to have doggy friends to play with, go to a dog park, or a playgroup. Have I mentioned that I love other dogs? I have so many other things I would like to share with you. Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and are scheduling individual adoptions in the Waynesboro, VA area during the pandemic. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
