About Lacey

Who doesn't love going outside on a beautiful sunny day and enjoying the little things? You can hear the birds are singing.....See the flowers blooming.....| Smell the fresh air.....See your shadow on the ground? Well, I can't promise you all sunny days or birds singing, but I can promise you that you will be able to see your shadow EVERY.SINGLE.DAY if you adopt Lacey. Lacey is still pretty new to ADA and her mom is learning new things about her every day. Lacey's transformation from being absolutely petrified and shutting down in the shelter to being a happy, playful puppy is so heartwarming. She has come a long way and still has a long way to go, but the progress she has made is wonderful. Some things we know about her so far. - First and foremost, Lacey needs a very securely fenced in yard. She loves to be outside and is learning how to play with toys with her foster mom, or even sometimes by herself. She also loves to be inside, pretty much wherever you are. -Lacey has been fine with most other dogs, but can be protective over her ' area' . She would need to be fed separately at this time since she has had to fend for herself probably her entire life. (She is slightly underweight, at about 21 pounds.) -She will bond to her person quickly and strongly. -Sudden noises and quick movements toward her scare her, and she will run. Because of that, she would need to be in a relatively quiet house with no children at this time. -When meeting new people, if they're sitting down and relatively quiet, she gets curious and will go up and sit with them. She loves the attention of adults. - She would need an adopter who understands dogs who are scared and would definitely have time and patience to spend with her. Her ideal person would be a retired person or couple or someone who works from home. - She is mostly housebroken if kept on a good schedule. Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and are scheduling individual adoptions in the Waynesboro, VA area during the pandemic. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
