About Artie

Hello! My name is Artemis, Artie for short, and I am in an urgent search for my new person or family. If you don't find me soon I may lose my life. I have been in the Silver City, NM shelter since January 16, 2021 where in the midst of a flood of tears my former owner left me. My heart broke when she said goodbye explaining that her landlord would not allow a big dog at her rental home. Why didn't she move so we could stay together? I do not understand! I am a young (around a year old) Great Dane Catahoula mix and full of strong, happy energy. People pass by my kennel remarking on how sleek and gorgeous I am but some find me intimidating and even scary when I stand up and holler with excitement hoping that they will take me for a walk. I happen to have a glorious deep voice and am simply exuberant with expression but also easily calm down to be leashed and taken out. I walk beautifully on a leash and am well behaved. I am very attentive and personable with good manners and know how to sit and stay. I get along with most other dogs and kids as well as adults but not sure about cats at this time. I currently weigh 65 pounds. My current fee includes being up to date in my vaccinations, and will be spayed soon so ready to go home with you! One would think with all my special qualities that I would be adopted easily but this small town does not appear to have a family for me as soon as I need one.
