About Stella

Stella is a 4 year old, 55 lb Shepherd/Collie mix has a calm demeanor and excellent manners. She is a beautiful brown eyed girl, who has puppy eyes but is an old soul - mellow and wise. She will sit, stay, and get off your bed on command, but she might sneak back under your covers when you aren't looking. Stella is a surprisingly low shedder, keeps herself well groomed, and will let you know when she needs to go outside. Stella walks very well on the leash, though she will use her strength to pull if she sees a dog friend she wants to play with. Stella doesn't require a crate, as she has proven to be very trustworthy around the house. However, Stella's got a mind of her own when it comes to food - do not expect her to eat that healthy kibble unless it has got some good beef or chicken mixed in - she will push that kibble across the kitchen with her nose in protest otherwise Stella is incredibly loyal and though she is slow to warm, she becomes very attached. If you give her time to trust you, you'll find her following you around the house wherever you go, curled up at your feet while you are working. Stella prefers not to be the center of attention, though wants to be near her people, where she can get her fill of chin and ear rubs. It's important Stella be given a little time to warm up to each person in her family, and that all people living in the home become her pack. Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care. Please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested in prior to submitting an application. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health, safety and adoption success of that dog. We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering and microchipping before transporting our dogs. We provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources.
