About Lucky

Lucky has been Low Riders' longest fosters. We finally feel he is ready for his forever home. Lucky has been a great meet and greater for the rescue but it is time for him to be the adopted. Lucky came to us two years ago with his sister and mom from Texas. When the three arrived they would not leave each other nor would they move from the spot in the room. They would only stare at the wall and not move. They would not eat unless it was completely dark and no one was around. They went to the restroom on each other. It tooks us weeks for them to allow us to touch them but only to pick up and move so we could clean. After weeks like this we were able to get them to the vet and have them checked out. Mom was in really bad shape and we had to let go as her quality of life showed no signs of improvement. As for Lucky and his Butters, they had a chance. We then split them up to allow trust with people to grow. Butters progress quicker than Lucky but they were both progressing. It took about a year but Butter finally got to a place where she could be adopted and was Jan of 2020. Lucky on the other hand still needed work. For about 6 months he went on meds to help calm his mind and trust. This worked and were able to take him off his meds. Lucky has gotten to the point that when he is inside he can be pet and will take a belly rub. He still does not like to be picked up but will allow you too. When he is outside he will stay away from you but does love to welcome you when you come home. Lucky would love to find a home with no more than one other dog that loves to play. He loves to play chase with other dogs and have a buddy to sleep with. He will still need leash work but he has come so far, that we feel it is important for him to be in his home with a buddy. Lucky is a very happy dog and loves other dogs, does not mind a cat and wants to find someone that will give him time to fully trust. Lucky is about 5ish and about 20lbs (could use 5 lbs) and is a cain terrier. He is potty trained (will use dog door), neutered, up today on vaccinations.
