About Arlo

Arlo is a beautiful Male Great Pyrenees. We have had him since nine weeks old. He is increasingly aggressive around food. We have trained on food aggression and at this point are managing the behavior the best we can. He is a wonderful, loving, smart and amazing livestock guardian dog. He is good with larger livestock animals such as goats and pigs. He is not good with chickens, other insecure dogs or cats. He has never hurt anyone. Including another animals. However, if any animals or humans come near him while eating he is extremely aggressive. He has an Alpha personality. We live on a homestead of 7 acres. We have a mature female Great Pyrenees who submits to his authority and they do well together. However, as noted he is getting increasingly aggressive towards our goats if they are anywhere near him and his feeding space (currently eats alone in a locked pen for protection of other animals and people). We often have young helpers on our farm that are less confidant around him. And less trained as they are learning on our farm or helping for the week. This is how we run our homestead for our personal community. Arlo needs a farm where he can be the dominant male guardian and is not around less trained or secure farm help for safety. He also needs an owner who understands food aggression and is willing to work with this problem behavior. If you have a large farm, need a strong and loving LGD and no chickens. Arlo would be a wonderful addition. He has a lot of love to give and much to learn with a confidant owner. We do not trust him around less experienced farm help. Young kids. Unless supervised by us %100. Our heart is breaking but we know that he is on edge too and not thriving with as busy as our farm is to our community. Please consider Arlo!
