About Rollo

Special Needs, GENTLE DOG NEEDS HEART MEDS FOR LIFE The owner named him BONES but we changed his name to Rollo. My vet said Rollo is an extraordinarily Special dog...I though because he was so sick but he said NO....because in all my years as a vet Rollo is the sweetest most loving gentle dog I have ever treated. Rollo has a severe heart condition and we found out he is six years old. He is skin and bones, no flesh on his hips, neck or spine. He is swayback and has little energy. After five days of treatment he is feeling much better. He will need daily heart meds to keep him alive and to keep fluids out of his lungs. He is no longer coughing and can stand up and walk now. He is great on leash and gently barks and whined when anyone pays attention to him. He is an amazing loverboy.. Rollo has spent his entire life in a backyard, starved and neglected. We DESPERATELY are searching for a home for Rollo so he can enjoy what is left of his life. This boy is so grateful, just to have food and a bed. If you meet him and see what a gentle soul he is it will rip out your heart when you realize how much he has suffered his entire life. Rollo will need to be on daily meds that will add up to about $100-150 a month. He is being given: Vetmedin 5 mg 1/2 a pill morning and night. Enalapril 10 mg 1/2 a pill morning and night. Denamarin 25 mg 1 pill a day. Lasix as needed. Without these meds Rollo will not live long, his lungs will fill with fluid and he will have trouble breathing. His owner does not want him back and this poor dog is a skeleton. How could your dog be gone for FIVE days and you not even miss him. I guess the owner was not feeding him either or he would have known he was gone. Because DDP has no kennels and only a couple fosters we need help finding him a suitable home.
