*ADOPTION PENDING* Blue-Eyed Beguiler Levi! Levi is an approximately 2.5 year old, 50 pound, red merle, bob-tailed Australian Shepherd mix boy. Levi's spellbinding Blue-Eyes are brimming over with everything Aussie: Charm, Personality, Intelligence, Exuberance, Energy, Devotion. This is Levi. A loving all-Aussie boy with cuddles to give and belly rubs to collect! He's a handsome, intense, high-energy, playful boy looking to lavish his affection on a calm, consistent, confident, experienced herding breed lover. Levi never tires of his toys, balls, and bones. A game of fetch? Yes please. He delights in a good ball chase! (Helpful hint: Just have two balls in hand. Levi will be lured to bring the tossed ball back by the promise of another.) At his foster home, he revels in romping with his fellow canines. Though Levi has a bit of a dominant personality alongside his high spirits, he is careful with the little guys. Like another 'Blue Eyes' of yesteryear, he'll turn those beguiling peepers of persuasion on his Person as if to say, 'Let's do it My Way.' But Levi needs a person who won't be swayed-- they've had an assertive Charmer like him before, and know those persuasive powers need to be guided by a confident leader. Levi does well in his crate and knows his house manners. This smart pup is already familiar with 'sit', 'down', 'wait'/'stay', and is eager to learn more. And he loves nothing more than a cruise in the car. He does need continued work on his leash. Levi's Person is looking for a canine life Partner with a capital 'P' who enjoys an active lifestyle. The Person who's been searching for a herding dog Partner that needs to be engaged mentally and physically: a job, a sport, training. Levi is a guarder-- of his People, his territory, and his treats. He can be jealous of his time with his person. Levi desires someone with the time and know-how to build a bond of trust and teach him how to share. He can be reactive to bikes, sudden movements like those of joggers, and to an unexpected corrective grab of his collar (He will growl and snap at such hasty acts). Constant rambunctiousness overstimulates this already lively lad. Levi came to us from a home that didn't fit the herding breed temperament, and couldn't meet Levi's needs. He bit a child during a run wild and free-for-all in the backyard. Fortunately, they recognized the need to place him with Australian Shepherd Advocates rescue, and he has grown under the care of a herding breed savvy Foster Mom. Now, he is ready for a herding breed savvy Forever Home. What do Levi's Forevers look like? They love Aussies. They appreciate and have working knowledge of the herding breed intelligence and temperament. They will eagerly welcome this sweet, magnificent buddy as part of their family, and will commit to help him flourish with continued intentional training and monitored social interactions. They'll keep this blue-eyed beguiler busy and love him with all the love he has to give. Since Levi has a tendency to both herd and guard, he is ideal for an adults-only, canine-focused home. Levi would enjoy a another dog or two in such a seasoned home. His high prey drive wouldn't make him a good housemate for small critters.
