About Oak

Oak is a 1 year old staffie mix. He was terrified when he initially came in but has warmed up to us. Oak looks intimidating with his dark fur, amber colored eyes and bulldog like stance but he has been a sweet dog with the staff. Oak, we feel, would do best in a home with no other dogs at this time. His dog testing has been hot and cold. His first test was not what we had hoped so we have allowed him some time to decompress to see if he was simply stressed from shelter life. His second test was better but he's still not interested in meeting other dogs and completely avoided interaction by turning his back. For this reason we feel that he would be best for a single dog only home. We would also prefer that he go to a home with a fenced yard. With time and proper introductions he may be able to live in a home with another but it will likely need to be on his own time. However, we do offer a 5 day foster-to-adopt program to those who live within an hour of Chillicothe, OH. This will allow you time to figure out if this dog is compatible for you. If not, simply bring the dog back and if it's a great fit you just come back and adopt.
