About Zane

Please note that we are a TX based rescue that transports our dogs once they have been adopted. All of our dogs reside in foster homes in TX. Our next PNW run leaves TX on 2.24, and arrives in WA/OR on 2.27. Our application can be found at haydudeequine.org I was named for the very famous writer of Western novels, Zane Grey. Such and awesome namesake!! Little known fact, Zane's birth name was Pearl Zane Gray (he later changed his name to Zane Grey!!) Lucky for me, I would not have rocked the name 'Pearl' nearly as well as the very western and masculine name Zane!! I am a 'Good Dog' that was surrendered by my owners to rescue due to financial hardship :( I lived with my family and my little Shih Tzu friend, Mr. Pickles ,for 4 years. We were both very sad to have our lives disrupted; we loved our family and always tried to be 'Good Dogs'. I know lots of people pleasin' behaviors such as 'sit', 'stay', 'lie down', how to walk on a leash, and 'get off the couch'!! I am house and crate trained and know to come when called. I am a gentlemanly and handsome 4 year old Doberman Pinscher mix and am sweet, sweet, sweet by nature. I love being around hoomans and am good with other dogs. I am well behaved and have good manners. Like many gorgeous actors, (Hello, George Clooney!!), I am graying(there's that word, again!!) early and am a bit 'grizzled' across my chin. Foster Mum says it makes me look distinguished!! The American Kennel Club has this to say about my awesome ancestry; 'muscular, fast, and powerful- the body is sleek but substantial, and is covered with a glistening coat of black, blue, red, or fawn, with rust markings. These elegant qualities, combined with a noble, wedge-shaped head and an easy, athletic way of moving have earned Dobermans a reputation as royalty in the canine kingdom.' Short, sleek hair= low shedding, low maintenance!! I am on the smallish side for a Doberman weighing in at a svelte 61 pounds. You get all of the perks of a large dog in a mediumish package :) I am active and athletic and LOVE playing fetch!! I LOVE playing with my ball so much, I will play a game of 'Catch' completely by myself if no hooman is available!! I will toss the ball high into the air and run to position myself underneath it in order to catch it!! I would make a great hiking or jogging companion and would do best in a moderately active to active home, A fenced backyard to run and play in would be ideal. I guess my life can be summed up in a quote from my namesake, Mr. Zane Grey: 'At the end of the day faith is a funny thing. It turns up when you don't really expect it. Its like one day you realize that the fairy tale may be slightly different than you dreamed.' Although the dream I had of living my life with my original family and Mr. Pickles is gone, my dream of a life with you lies ahead for both of us!!!
