About Pocket

Pocket 'Rocket' is a female cairn terrier small to medium size about calf height and 10-14 lbs. She's about 5-6 years old, is thin and skinny with white and black hair. She is very feminine in her actions and behavior. She has high energy, gets excited and will run figure 8's. She is sweet, lovable, not aggressive or dangerous. She loves attention and will get jealous if attention is given to another animal that she will come to re-direct that attention to her. She will be nervous and cautious around new people or animals, but will warm up because she will crave the attention. She is use to a closed in backyard, and doesn't have much experience on a leash. Grandma was in a wheelchair and didn't go out for walks or take Pocket anywhere but the Vet for vaccinations. Pocket has grown up with two unlikely companions, a Jack Russell Terrier/Pitbull combination and a Mixed Irish Wolfhound and who knows what else named Oliver Age 7 (who is also up for adoption) She wrestles and plays with them rough and can hold her own. I recommend that a woman adopts Pocket, or a family with kids that especially have a daughter. She would be a very good companion for a female. She's not masculine for a man or boy. That's where Oliver comes in. Pocket will follow you everywhere, and will want to sit with you in a chair/sofa or sleep with you in bed. It would be nice if Pocket and Oliver could be adopted together because they shared a litter of 5 puppies together a few years back that were all adopted in 2017 right here on RescueMe.org. The reason why Pocket and Oliver are up for adoption is because their owner (Grandma/Nana) died of Stage 4 Cervical cancer, and we just can't keep them. The 3rd dog belonged to her son, that he's taken back but not able to care for the other two dogs. Grandma/Nana rescued homeless animals including cats as well as dogs. The cats are not as easily adoptable especially at their age, so we are keeping the cats and adopting out the two dogs. Pocket will require gentleness and patience. She has never been punished, spanked or abused. She doesn't get very excited when you say 'Outside' like most dogs and you may have to walk outside for her to follow you outside, and watch that she potty's outside rather than her coming back inside and pottying in the house. She hates rain, lightning and loud noises like thunder and fireworks that has made her afraid of outdoors. She is fed Kibbles & Bits dry dogfood, and occasional treats for rewards. She recently has been to the groomer, bathed, haircut and nail trim.
