About Mr. Wilson

Lab / Flat-Coated Retriever
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

Mr Wilson was first rescued and adopted as an adult and now finds himself homeless again after his owner passed away. He has been very sad and missing his owner. Mr Wilson loves people and in spite of being approximately 17 years old he still walks very well on a leash. His age is a guess since he was rescued. He is looking for a family to love and care for him during his golden years. Mr Wilson weighs about 65 pounds. Please help Mr. Wilson find the loving home he deserves. Update: Mr Wilson tested positive for Lyme's. He is on a course of oral antibiotic which he can complete with his new family. Mr Wilson is still currently available for adoption. Update from his foster: Update: Mr. Wilson has been the perfect house guest. Despite his owner passing away and finding himself in rescue, Mr. Wilson is one of the happiest and friendliest dogs I have ever met. It is evident that his previous owner took great care of him, and that Mr. Wilson was very loved. When sitting on the couch, Mr. Wilson will snuggle next to you, and use his paws to tap you, and pull your arm towards him for pets. He loves affection of any kind, particularly belly rubs. After being with us for a week, Mr. Wilson has also started to give kisses. He is a very easy and low maintenance dog to take care of; he really does not ask for much. Mr. Wilson's favorite thing to do is to take naps on a dog bed, or snuggle on the couch. Mr. Wilson loves people, and has a very expressive personality. Whenever someone comes home, Mr. Wilson runs over with his tail wagging. During meal times, Mr. Wilson becomes so excited that he will 'speak' while his bowl is being set down. Mr. Wilson is estimated to be around 17 years old, but I hope that people are not frightened by his age. He is in amazing shape: he doesn't have any trouble walking, can still get on/off the couch, and will even climb on the snowbanks outside. Mr. Wilson does not seem to understand stairs; he doesn't have any trouble navigating the three steps on my front porch, but he would probably do best in a home where a flight of steps are not required to go outside. He has been very good about going to the bathroom outside; Mr. Wilson will bark or go to the door to let you know he has to go outside. He then does his business quickly and runs back inside before going straight to a dog bed. He has been great with his two foster siblings, and likes to share his beds with them. Mr. Wilson has so much love to give, and all he asks for in return is a warm place to sleep, the occasional belly rub, and for someone to give him a chance. Senior dogs are amazing reminders to live in the moment, and appreciate the little things, something we could all benefit from. We would love to see Mr. Wilson find his forever home.
