About Holly

This sweet little girl is Holly. She is 2 �%BD years old and weighs 40 pounds. Holly is a Terrier Mix. There is probably some Pit Bull in her and some other types of terrier too. Holly was found as a stray on September 29th and brought into Memphis TN Animal Services. Holly was not able to walk or stand, they thought she had been hit by a car. Holly was also Heartworm positive. She didn't have a chance there. We found out about her on October 11th and immediately made arrangements to go get her. We took Holly straight to the surgeons at Blue Pearl in Des Moines. The right side of Holly's pelvis was fractured and her left hip was badly dislocated. Her pelvic fracture was healing. Her hip had been dislocated for so long that the surgeons were not able to correct it. Holly had a femoral head ostectomy which removed the head and neck of her femur. Holly's body formed a false joint and she was mobile and pain free quickly. Next we addressed her heartworms. Holly has been thru heartworm treatment. Her last injection was December 18th. She can return to normal activity In February. Until then she needs to stay calm. Holly is a sweet, shy girl. New people scare Holly. She needs a patient adopter who will give her time to feel comfortable at her new home and not expect too much too soon. Because of her injuries she has spent a lot of time being held and cuddled and loves her people. Holly has done well with young male dogs but has not been exposed to a variety of dogs because of her heartworm treatment, she wasn't allowed to play. She would love a home with another dog who has a gentle play style or an older calm dog. Her favorite buddy is Bonnie a senior Golden Retriever. She loves toys, her favorites are antlers and nylabones. Holly would like a forever home with a fenced yard so she can safely run and play. Holly is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped.
